Betty Clark Queensberry rejoiced in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 7, 2015. Born in Baltimore, Maryland on February 23, 1929 Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband of fifty years, Garland Queensberry, daughter Linda Shook Jenkins and son, Gary Queensberry. She is survived by seven children: Dennis and wife Judy, Lunenburg; Brenda Hammock and husband Ralph, Spotsylvania; Christina Barksdale late husband James, Chester; Winning Queensberry, Farmville; Mark and wife Zuki, Meherrin; Wade and wife Terri, Colonial Heights; Scottie and wife Connie, Keysville; fifteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. Betty was a long-standing, devout and faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Meherrin where she wore many hats and helped the small church thrive for decades under her caring leadership. A loving and generous soul, Betty gave of her time and energy freely to help others in her community, especially the elderly and shut in. Her delicious bread puddings were legendary in the area and her famous raffled pineapple upside cake at the annual Sacred Heart Labor Day stew was widely renowned. The fabulous “pig pickins” which took place at the homestead in Meherrin were enjoyed by many folks and were always a hit in the community. Betty was a cheerful and delightful person to be around and her warm, beautiful smile made everyone feel special. A tender and faithful daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend to all who knew her, she will be missed tremendously and will always be the “queen” of our hearts. Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville will be in charge of the arrangements. A funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Meherrin will take place on Tuesday, March 10 at 11 a.m. and Father Tony Morris will preside. A wake will be held at Browning-Duffer on March 9 from 6 to 8 p.m. A love offering to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, sent to this address: 709 Buffalo Street, Farmville, Va 23901 will be graciously accepted in Betty’s memory. A donation to the Alzheimer’s/Dementia Association Southeastern Va Chapter, 6350 Center Drive, suite 102 Norfolk, Va 23502 in Betty’s name is also an option in lieu of flowers.
