Curtis Wayne Tharpe

Curtis Wayne Tharpe, age 71, departed his earthly life on Thursday, February 18, 2016 after fighting a courageous battle with ALS. He ran Curtis Tharpe Trucking CWT for 44 years and BMC Rock for 9 years. The businesses were a family affair as his three children worked with him. Curtis believed in hard work and being fair to everyone. He was the son of the late Kermit and Irene Tharpe of Drakes Branch. Curtis was preceded in death by a brother, Kermit David Tharpe, and a sister, Joyce Tharpe Nichols. He leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Margaret Guill Tharpe; a daughter, Beverly Tharpe Kunath Kerwin; two sons, Mike Sherry, and Chris Elaine; eight grandchildren, Cody, Lauren, Lindsey, Cameron, Brandy, Casey, Collin, and Curstan; three brothers Wade “Lit”, James Ann, and Harold Margaret; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2016, at 4:00 PM at Lebanon United Methodist Church with visitation one hour prior to service. The family will receive friends in the home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to The ALS Society or Lebanon United Methodist Church Building Fund. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA is serving the family.
