Glen Ruben Dean, age 75, son of the late James H. and Rosa M. Dean, of Abilene, VA, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2013.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ruth Ingram Dean; sons, Mike Dean and wife, Donna, Jeff Dean and wife, Marlo; grandchildren, Krystal D. Tucker and husband, Blake, Christopher Dean and fiancée, Lily Sampson, Ruben Dean, Tanner Dean, Maddie Grace Dean; great-grandchildren, Wyatt Blake Tucker and Kinley Anne Tucker; sisters, Iva Reinhardt, Lou Dodson, and Irene Zita. Glen was predeceased by a brother, James H. Dean, Jr.; sisters, Sadie Johnson and Ann Carwile.
He served as a member of the Charlotte County Lions Club for twenty years, and was a member of Mt. Nebo Baptist Church.
Glen was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His working career included Burlington Industries, Uniroyal, and Armstrong Furniture. He loved outdoor life activities, especially fishing on the Outer Banks, and was lucky enough to land the “big catch” from time to time. Glen was and always will be remembered as “MUDFLAP”
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, June 28, 2013, in Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, Keysville, VA. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends at the Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, on Thursday, June 27, 2013, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to the Charlotte County Lions Club, The Barksdale Foundation, or Mt. Nebo Baptist Church. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA, is in charge of arrangements.
