Howard “Red” Dwight Johnson, 77, of Meherrin, VA, passed away Saturday, October 11, 2014.
He was the son of late Leonard Lee and Flossie Mae Queen Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary K. Johnson, son Derek K Johnson, granddaughter Tiffany Marie Johnson, twin brother Dewell Johnson, and sister Naomi Childress.
Red was a welder and retired from Kyanite Mines in 1996.
He is survived by his son Kevin Johnson, daughter-in-law Terri Johnson, daughter Donna Sarver, son-in-law Huntre Sarver, step-son Gene Campbell, daughter-in-law Joyce Campbell, step-son Steven Campbell daughter-in-law Betty Campbell, step-daughter Kathy Haynes and son-in-law Robert Haynes, three brothers, Maynard L. Johnson, Raymond C. Johnson, and L. Curtis Johnson; three sisters, Anne Price, Ross Gallion, Joyce Banton, many grandchildren, great-grand children, nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 2 PM, Monday, October 13, 2014, Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery, Drakes Branch, VA. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA, is in charge of arrangements.
