Mary Frances Hunt Canada went to be with the Lord on June 11, 2013. She was preceded in death by her parents, George D. and Bess Spencer Hunt; and her brother, Richard Hunt. Mary Frances was born in Charleston, West, Virginia, on January 29, 1932. She graduated from Virginia Intermont College in Bristol, VA. Mary Frances formerly of Charleston, West Virginia, passed away at Southerland Place in Midlothian, VA, surrounded by her family. Surviving are her husband, Ellwood B. Canada of Birmingham, AL, formerly of Charleston, West Virginia; her two sons, Steven E. Canada of Midlothian, VA, and Kevin H. Canada of Birmingham, AL; and their wives, Kathy Dosier Canada and Nancy Hanger Canada; five granddaughters, Carrie C. Rivas, Marianne C. Clarke, Jenni C. Rothchild, Stefi Canada and Sudie Canada; two grandsons, Kevin Canada, Jr. and John Canada. She is also survived by three great-granddaughters, Alana Rivas, Hazel Clarke and Rosalie Clarke; two great-grandsons, Wesley Rothchild and Connor Rivas. Mary Frances was known as Mickey in her girlhood and that name remaining with her through college and her years as a wonderful wife and mother. She and her family lived many places, including twenty-five years in Chester, VA. She went back to Charleston, West Virginia, for her final twenty-two years of life. She was a member of the Bible Center Church in Charleston, West Virginia. She was also known as “Nana” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother. Mary Frances was an avid gardener, crafter, homemaker, and antique collector.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, June 14, 2013, at the Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA, with interment to follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Charlotte C. H., VA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Bible Center Church 1111 Oakhurst Drive, Charleston, West Virginia 25314. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA, is in charge of arrangements.
