Wallace Leroy Icenhour, age 76 of Chase City, passed away on Friday, August 9, 2013. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Claire McCluskey Icenhour, beloved son, Jay Icenhour Mikki of Chase City, three stepchildren Amy Brinkerhoff Schwebke Chip of Lexington Park, MD., Erik Brinkerhoff of Brattleboro, VT, and Evan Brinkerhoff of China, three sisters Dorothy Icenhour Adcock Douglas of Oxford, NC., Ruth Ann Icenhour Thompson Robert of Chase City, and Mildred Icenhour Elliott of Clarksville. Also his grandchildren Kaeman, Colin, and Jackson Icenhour, Alex Griles, Zachary, Adam and Logan Schwebke, Maren Swanson and Zebulon Brinkerhoff and several nieces and nephews and two children from a previous marriage.

He is preceded in death by his parents James Worley Icenhour and Vergie Mable Icenhour, his brother James William Icenhour, and his sister Mable Icenhour Clements.

Leroy was an Air Force veteran and served on Tiawan during the post Korean War era. He loved his country and was a true patriot. He was a lover of justice, passionate and courageous and stood up for what he believed. He loved his family and friends and tried to fill all his waking hours in their presence. He will be missed by his family and friends. His sense of humor and his infectious laugh will stay in our hearts and minds.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in South Boston, VA 3192 Dan River Church Rd. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA is in charge of the arrangements.
