    Susanne, Jim and Family
I was so sorry to hear about Catherine.
Your loss is unimaginable. I pray that you find peace in your sorrow. I can’t begin to feel your pain, but my thoughts are with you all.

I truly feel blessed and honored that Catherine was such a big part of my life growing up. There are not many memories from my childhood that didn’t include her. No matter what it was from advice and guidance to a swift swat on the butt when Jay and I needed it, she was always there.

I hope you take comfort in her legacy of kindness and wisdom. A good teacher is like a candle—it consumes itself to light the way for others and she did just that. She made such a difference in so many lives she touched. Her very being was magical, her smile was infectious and lite up the room and made everyone feel at ease.

Her love of faith and family was the corner stone of her existence. I know the loss of her will be felt everday through the family she was such an amazing lady. But I find comfort in the fact that she and Jay are finally reunited and looking over all of us right now.
Please know that we are here if you all need anything

Mrs. Garnett was such a sweet lady and a wonderful teacher. She always encouraged us to do more and strive to reach our goals.
I have many memories either from school or times at their farm with her son Jay. I can still hear her say, “Jay Garnett, I am mad as a hornet!” LOL
It is a shame that it takes something like this to help remember such great times and realize how much we lose touch with people. She will be missed.

I did not have the pleasure of being Catherine’s neighbor as I had moved away from home when she and Mercer married. However, she was a wonderful friend to my mother (Ruth Miller), and called her on a frequent basis. Since her hometown was near ours in Bristol, Tenn., she took my mother with her on one of her trips home which allowed my mother to have a visit with her family. The last time I saw her was at Violet Thackston’s 100th birthday party. She was as beautiful as ever and shared kind words with me and my daughter about my Mom and Dad (J.C. Miller). God speed, Catherine.

Catherine was a friend I could always count on for help with any task and for frank opinions on any subject. I’m glad I was able to visit her at home and to discuss with her a trip to Richmond with her to visit with Jim since I volunteered to drive her. that trip didn’t happen and sadly I will not be at the funeral Saturday because I have recently been exposed to someone with COVID and want to first be sure that I am not contagious. My love to all of Catherine’s family and you know my heart is with you even if my body has to stay in quarantine at this time.

Catherine you were such a huge part of my growing up, you and Mercer both, at Bethlehem. I’ve always remembered how you and Momma would say if she had some of your height and you some of her weight y’all would be perfectly set. I will never forget how all y’all ladies at Bethlehem put on the meal for after Momma’s service in April 2017. That meant so much to our family. You are loved and are so missed but now you’re back with Jay!
