Francis “Ray” Palmer “Walking Man’s Friend” age 92, of Midlothian, VA, passed away on Monday, April 17, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Francis and Mabel Currin Palmer; his brother, Ralph G. Palmer; and his late wife, Elaine Pierce Palmer.
Ray was born on January 17, 1931, in Lunenburg, County. He was a graduate of Victoria High School and was a graduate of Richmond Polytechnical Institute. After college he proudly served in the United States Air Force as a Sergeant during the Korean Conflict Era. Ray worked in the Automotive sales industry. He enjoyed boating, camping, hunting, and cutting grass in his spare time.
Ray is survived by two sons, Mark L. Palmer of Drakes Branch, VA, and Michael R. Palmer (Renee) of Powhatan, VA; one granddaughter, Laney Palmer Daniel and husband Greg; and two great-grandsons, Brycen Daniel and William Daniel.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 22, 2023, in Ontario Christian Church with interment to follow in the church cemetery. A reception will be held in the church fellowship hall following the interment. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Ontario Christian Church Cemetery Fund. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville VA, is in charge of arrangements.
