Harvey Thomas Tharpe, age 96, of Charlotte Court House, VA, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, February 24, 2024. Harvey is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Barber Tharpe; his daughter, Lois T. Jordan; his son, Jerry T. Tharpe; and his son-in-law, Eugene Reaves.
Harvey was a World War II veteran that proudly served his country. After returning home, he married the love of his life, Mary Barber and was wedded for fifty-seven years. He retired from J. P. Stevens, but always wore many hats as a brother, husband, daddy, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather. Never once did he complain when we took over the house for family functions.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, Hope T. Wilmer (David), Lisa Reaves, David Keith Tharpe, and Timothy L. Jordan (Tracy); numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at the Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA, with interment to follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Charlotte Court House, VA. The family will receive friends at the Browning-Duffer Funeral Home on Monday, February 26, 2024, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. A reception will be held at Harvey’s house following the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Charlotte County Rescue Squad. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA is in charge of arrangements.
