William was born on April 28, 1940. William was preceded in death by his father, Green Berry Dix, his mother, Eloise Conner Dix and brother, Charles Franklin Dix. William is survived by his beloved companion Mary Newby of Chase City Virginia.   William is also survived by his brother, Reginald W. Dix, his sisters Barbara D. Spencer and Betty D. Martin of Victoria, Virginia and Carolyn D. Altizer of Green Bay, Virginia. Mary and William were blessed to have Shirley Newton as a devoted friend who faithfully cared for them for the past several years. William loved his cats and dogs, loved to fish, and enjoyed a good poker game with his buddies.  William often visited friends and loved to travel around the area in his pickup truck wearing his cowboy boots and checking in on everyone.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, October 26, 2018, at the Browning-Duffer Funeral Home, Keysville, with interment to follow in Cool Springs Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, on Thursday, October 25, 2018 from 7 to 8 p.m.,  The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA, is serving the family.
