Robert “Bobby” Haley, age 78, of Charlotte Court House passed away on Saturday, September 15, 2018, at his home.

He was the loving and devoted husband of Barbara Napier Haley for fifty-six years.

“Bobby” was born on July 18, 1940, in Charlotte County he was the son of the late Clyde and Dorothy Adams Haley. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Edwin and Garland Haley.

“Bobby” retired from Babcock & Wilcox as a Machine Shop Foreman with thirty-six years of service. He was a devoted member of Phenix Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon, an elder, and as church superintendent for thirty plus years.

In addition to his wife he is survived by one son, Dennis C. Haley (Lisa) of Charlotte Court House; one daughter, Debra Gilley (Kevin) of Jacksonville, N. C.; three grandchildren, Robert Zane Haley, Katherine Gilley and John Gilley; two step-grandchildren, Curtis Moorefield (Angela), and Brittany Lewis (Will); three brothers, Ralph Haley (Peggy) of Prince George, Linwood Haley (Carol) of Williamsburg, and Donald Haley (Diane) of Keysville; two sisters, Elizabeth Foster (Keith) of Fleming Island, FL, Mary Tucker (Roger) of Charlotte Court House; one sister-in-law, June Haley of Chester, VA.

“Bobby” never met a stranger. He loved helping others, not just neighbors and friends but ANYONE who needed help.  He was always there to lend a helping hand.  Anyone who knew him knew of his sharp wit, his humor, his mischievous nature.  Also, among his many talents were “jackleg”, mechanic, furniture maker, and mediator.  He will be sorely missed by so many.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, September 19, 2018, in Phenix Presbyterian Church Phenix, VA, with interment to follow in Rough Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Phenix, VA. The family will receive friends at the Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, on Tuesday, September 18, 2018, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.  Those wishing to make contributions please consider  Phenix Presbyterian Church, P O Box 121, Phenix, VA 23959.     Barry and I are so sorry for your loss. Bobby would stop by the house in Phenix occasionally and visit with us and we really enjoyed those visits very much. He was a kind and caring person who gave his friendship to anyone. Loved his smiles and happy disposition. Truly a man of God. Prayers for comfort and strength.

    My condolences to the Haley Family. Bobby was a very talented man with a great sense of humor and he was a great friend. He will be missed by all who knew him. I have many special memories of Bobby. He was always ready to lend a helping hand when anyone needed it. My prayers are with the family. I feel very blessed to have known this man of God.
