Thomas Hanmer Ramsey, 56, of Keysville, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2019. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Dix Ramsey. Tom is survived by his loving children, Zachary Thomas Ramsey and Jessica Lee Ramsey, and his devoted parents, James Daniel Ramsey, Jr., and Lee Hanmer Neal Ramsey. He also leaves two siblings, James Daniel Ramsey, III, and Katherine Electa Ramsey; a nephew, Matthew Hagop Pierre Roose; and many long-time friends and special loved ones whose lives he touched with his kindness and thoughtfulness.
A native of Keysville, Virginia, Tom graduated from Longwood College, and then spent many successful years in the transportation industry. He began his career with Overnite Transportation in Roanoke, Virginia, where he won several local, regional and national “top sales” awards. He later worked with Estes Express Lines in Richmond, Virginia. But ultimately, Tom returned to his beloved Keysville, which had never been far from his heart and where he could truly enjoy all the wonders of nature and the peace and tranquility of the rural life. Tom loved volunteering with the Special Olympics, watching “Old West” TV shows, hunting and fishing, but mostly he enjoyed simply sitting quietly in the early morning hours watching the world and noticing the small things others so often take for granted. He will be greatly missed.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 2, 2019, at Keysville United Methodist Church, Keysville, Virginia, with interment to follow at Ash Camp Cemetery. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, Virginia, is serving the family.
