Thurman E. “Junior” Dobbins, Jr., age 90, of Keysville, VA, passed away on September 16, 2022, at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital in South Boston, VA.
Junior was born on May 14, 1932, son of the late Thurman Ernest and Faye Arrington Dobbins of Charlotte Court House, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Gilbert Dobbins; and one sister, Lillian Elder.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Edith Morton Dobbins, daughter, Vicki Dobbins Cardwell (Nelson); two grandsons, Kevin S. Cardwell and Bryan M. Cardwell (Alana Baker); three brothers, Edward Dobbins, Kenneth Dobbins and Garland Dobbins (Linda); four sisters, Juanita Hylton (Don), Frances Adams Shores, Phyllis Clay, and Betty Augeri (Joe); and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was retired from Roy C. Jenkins Oil Co. as an oil delivery truck driver. He really enjoyed his job as a truck driver and always had many fond stories to share about his adventures delivering oil. He never met a stranger and could always carry on a conversation with whomever he met. His favorite hobbies were fishing, hunting, yard work and spending time with family.
A special note of love and gratitude goes to his caregiver, Reedie White, for her devotion to him.
The family will receive visitors on Saturday, September 17, 2022, from 5:30pm-7:00pm at the Browning- Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2022, at 2pm at Mt. Harmony Methodist Church Cemetery, Keysville, VA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Charlotte County Rescue Squad or the Keysville Volunteer Fire Department. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA, is respectfully serving the Dobbins family.
