Albert Louis Jacobs “Butch”, age 85, of Charlotte Court House, VA passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2026. He was born on November 24, 1940, to the late Jacob and Marion Kestler Jacobs. In addition to his parents, Butch was also preceded in death by a son Jacob Jacobs; a twin sister, Katherine Jacobs Pianettini; and two brothers, Carl Jacobs and Keimpe Jacobs.
Butch served his country in the United States Navy. After his military service, he joined the Oakland New Jersey Police Department, serving as a Police Officer from 1965 until his retirement in 1989. Butch also served the Oakland Fire Department as a volunteer. Following his retirement from the police department, he served his community as a Minister from 2004 until 2022.
Butch is survived by his wife, Barbara E. Jacobs of Charlotte C. H., VA; a daughter, Concetta Rose Jacobs Smith (Glenn) of Oxford, NC; step-children, Bryon Gordon (Christine) of Woodbridge, VA; Julie Budd (Donald) of Oak Ridge, NJ; and Bobbi-Jo Wegel (Marc) of West Babylon, NY; adopted daughter, Jessica L. Jacobs of Tucson, AZ; eight grandchildren, Matthew J. Jacobs of Randolph, NJ, Jacob M. Faulkner of Oxford, NC, James A. Faulkner of Tampa, FL, Joseph R. Faulkner of Walden, NY; Mary C. Gordon of Washington, DC, Daniel Budd of Oak Ridge, NJ, Abigail Budd of Oak Ridge, NJ, and Megan Wegel of West Babylon, NY; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Arthur Jacobs of Andover, NJ and Coby Jacobs of Vero Beach, FL; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Butch was an avid outdoors man; he enjoyed golfing, gardening, hiking, horseshoes, carpentry, and baseball, as well as writing poetry. He was a pillar in his community: very generous, solid, strong, very stable, family-oriented, and very passionate and giving.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 14, 2026, in Mt. Tirzah Baptist Church Charlotte, C. H., VA, with interment to follow in Evergreen Cemetery. A reception will be held at the church fellowship hall following the graveside service. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Mt. Tirzah Baptist Church or a Brain Cancer Research Foundation of your choice. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA is in charge of arrangements.
