Charlotte Scott “Nanny Chick” Barker

Charlotte Scott “Nanny Chick” Barker, age 67, of Saxe, VA, entered into eternal bliss on December 14, 2016, after a short battle with cancer. Charlotte was born to Henry and Eva Scott in Saxe, VA, on September 3, 1949.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 53 years, Dewey M. Barker; four children, Dewey L. Barker Becky of Keysville, Donald R. Barker Tammy of Keysville, Diann M. Tharpe Perry of Drakes Branch, Dennis W. Barker Lola of Drakes Branch; and a honorary daughter, Lisa L. Barker of Keysville. Charlotte had seven grandchildren, Leslie, Kaylin, Joshua, Kelsey, Alex, Maci, and Jacob; two step-grandchildren, Jarrett and Jason; three great-grandchildren, Grace, Faith, and September; and two step-great-grandchildren, Dustin and Chase. In addition, she is survived by three loving sisters, Ann Tharpe James, Linda Mason Tom, and Frances Green. Charlotte won the battle. Cancer never broke her spirit or shook her faith. She was reunited with her parents and her siblings, Kathy Scott, Pete Scott, Otis Scott, Clarence Scott, Sydnor Scott, and Margaret Townsend.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, December 16, 2016, at the Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, with interment to follow in the Scott Family Cemetery, Saxe, VA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Barksdale Foundation. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA, is in charge of arrangements.
