Clarence "Pete" Dickerson

Clarence "Pete" Dickerson, of Drakes Branch, Virginia, peacefully passed away on July 26, 2026, at the age of 79, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on July 4, 1947, Pete lived a life defined by hard work, unwavering love for his family, and an appreciation for life's simple pleasures. As a young man, he worked in local grocery stores before spending many years as a meat cutter at Kroger, where he remained until his retirement. No matter where life took him, Pete was known for his kind heart, quick wit, and his ability to make anyone feel like an old friend.

If you sat down with Pete, chances were you'd leave with a smile and a story to tell. He loved hunting, talking about guns, reminiscing about the good old days, and spending time outdoors. More than anything, however, he treasured his family. Of all the titles he held throughout his life, his favorite was "P-Pa," the name lovingly given to him by his granddaughter.

The greatest love of Pete's life was his fiancée, Jacqueline "Jackie" Kizer, who preceded him in death in June 2021. Everyone who knew Pete knew the depth of his love for Jackie, and it brings comfort to his family to know they are reunited once again.

Pete is survived by his daughter, Carrie Park; his bonus daughter, Jennifer Brankley (Eric); his sister, Lillian Dickerson; his beloved granddaughter, Skylar Stevens; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, and neighbors whose lives were made brighter by knowing him.

He was preceded in death by his beloved fiancée, Jacqueline "Jackie" Kizer; his parents, Floyd Dickerson and Neva Dickerson; his brothers, Harvey "Hopper" Dickerson and Floyd Jr. "Bugg" Dickerson; and many other cherished family members.

Though cancer claimed Pete's body, it never diminished his spirit. He faced each day with strength, humor, and a heart full of love for those around him. His kindness, infectious laughter, and unforgettable stories will continue to live on through everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

If you knew Pete, you probably had a story about him—and if you didn't, he likely had one for you.

We were truly blessed to know him, to love him, and to call him family. There will never be another P-Pa quite like him. While our hearts are broken by his passing, we find peace in knowing his suffering has ended and that he is finally home with the Lord, reunited with Jackie. His love, wisdom, and countless memories will forever remain in the hearts of all who loved him.

In accordance with Pete's wishes, he will be cremated, and no public visitation or funeral service will be held.
