Doris Louise Jones

Doris Louise Jones, 92, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2026, in Mt. Ulla, North Carolina. Born on April 11, 1933, in Charlotte County, Virginia. Doris lived a long and meaningful life centered around family and warmth.

She was the devoted wife of Willie P. Jones for 62 years until his passing in 2013. Together they raised four children: Willie Jr. (Maureen), Chester (Brenda), Marilyn Watson (Roy), and Joan Covington (Gary). Doris was a proud grandmother to Will Jones, Ashlie Hargitt, Jessica Rock, Trae Jones, Ian Jones, Whitney Jones, Ben Fulcher, Jake Fulcher, and Drew Covington; step-grandmother to Ashley Watson, Krissie Watson, and Kailani Haulsee; great-grandmother to numerous great-grandchildren; and three cherished great-great-granddaughters.

Doris shared a close bond with her siblings, Peggy East, Margaret Jenkins, Nancy Fowler, and Larry Baker (Debby). She held dear the memory of her parents, Russell and Annie Baker, as well as her brothers Russell, Ed, Roy, and Jack who preceded her in death.

Known for her welcoming nature and loving heart, Doris created a home that was always warm and inviting. Her hospitality was matched by her culinary talents—family gatherings were often filled with the comforting aroma of her home-cooked meals, including her famous Potato salad. She especially enjoyed long phone conversations with her sisters that brought joy and laughter into her life. Her beloved cat “Kitty Tom” was a constant companion.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, February 15, 2026 at Beulah Methodist Church Cemetery. Following the funeral service a reception will be held in the Abilene Community House. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA is in charge of arrangements.
