Edward Darrell 'Ed' Ashley of Keysville, VA passed away on August 19, 2025. He was born on April 25, 1942 to the late Joseph and Elizabeth Ashley. Ed was the youngest born in a family of many brothers and a sister who are all now deceased.
Surviving is his beloved wife of sixty-two years, Kay Ashley, Keysville, VA; son, Mark Ashley and wife, Sharon of Las Vegas, NV; sisters-in-law, Peggy Weeks of Cape Coral, FL, Joyce Layne (James) of Ahoskie, NC, Linda Houck (Jack) of Cape Coral, FL; brothers-in-law, Julian Sabongan of White Plains, MD and Lee Fraley of Stow, OH; nieces, Samantha Sabongan of LaPlata, MD and Pattie Crookshank (Chuck) of Suffolk, VA.
Ed was retired from service in the Police Department of Norfolk, VA serving over thirty-four years including service as a Canine Trainer for the Department. He also served with the Pioneers in Florida for many years and with Charlotte County Operation Blessing for many years. Ed was a devoted active member of Ash Camp Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon.
A private memorial service will be held. Contributions in Ed’s memory can be made to Ash Camp Baptist, PO Box 56, Keysville, VA 23947. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA is in charge of arrangements.
