In Loving Memory of Harold (Buck) Rumfelt

Born in Marion, North Carolina in 1947 and lifelong resident of Virginia, Harold (Buck) Rumfelt was a son, brother, husband, father, uncle and friend for more than 79 years. The middle child of Andrew and Mary Ethel Rumfelt, he grew up in Williamsburg, Virginia with siblings Joe, Brenda, Kathy and Sandra.

Married in 1966, Buck and Ruthie Rumfelt spent 60 years together, building a lifetime of memories with daughters Cheryl, Suzanna and Jessica, first in Williamsburg and Newport News, then moving to Meherrin in 1985. A veteran of the U.S. Army (1966 to 1969), he spent a career spanning 50 years in and around construction and retired in 2010 after serving as a Building Code Official for more than a decade.

Known for his love of family and dedication to his community, he remained active in retirement and enjoyed spending time with his loved ones, including six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and an extended family of nieces, nephews and countless others who shared his world.

A family celebration will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, July 31, 2026 at the Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation to the Virso Neighborhood Watch Association to continue their support of improvements at the Virso Recreation and Community Center.
