Harriet Bailey Doty went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at the age of 80. She was the daughter of the late Morris and Marian Bailey of Keysville, VA, and was preceded in death by her husband and great love, Ron, as well as her young brother, Carl.
Harriet is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Renee Ward (Tim) and Rosalind Fenton (Steve); her five grandchildren, Ryan, Jillian, Brock, Connell, and Elric; her sisters and their husbands, Lorraine Agee (Larry) and Beverly Duffer (Randy); a cousin who was like a brother, Ed Dunnavant (Kathy); and many dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who are like family.
Harriet’s faith in God defined her life. Her joy came through serving others, whether it was cooking favorite meals for her grandchildren, helping others through grief, or simply being there to listen and give unconditional love. While living in and raising her family in Roanoke, VA, she served her community through Bonsack Baptist Church and as a beloved elementary school teacher and mentor. She had a deeply rooted love of gardening and worked closely with Ron to grow an abundance of delicious food for their family and friends over the years. Her yard was always full of well-tended flowers, sharing brightness and love with all around her.
A service of remembrance will be held Friday, February 13, 2026, at Ash Camp Baptist Church in Keysville, VA. Visitation with the family begins at 1:00 p.m., with the service beginning at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Harriet’s memory may be directed to Ash Camp Baptist Church and designated for the Capital Improvement Fund (P.O. Box 56, Keysville, VA 23947) or made online at ashcamp.org/give. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA is in charge of arrangements.
