Hester Linwood Townsend

Hester Linwood Townsend, 88, of Drakes Branch, Virginia passed away peacefully in his home on March 20, 2020. Hester is survived by his children; Joy Barbour (John), Mike Townsend (Dawn), Kenny Townsend (Judy), Belinda Hammock (Rick Hudson), and Addison Harville, eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two sisters; Hilda Edwards (Ned) and Ruby Frederick, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Hester was a truck driver for over 60 years, as an owner-operator and a driver for several companies including JT Newman, Burlington, Abilene, and R&V Trucking. He was also a tobacco and cattle farmer. He was a life-long member of Friendship Baptist Church of Drakes Branch, Virginia.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at Friendship Baptist Church, 239 Friendship Church Road, Drakes Branch, Virginia. Browning-Duffer Funeral Home of Keysville is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Heart Association.
