Janet Johnson Harmon

On October 10, 1957, Janet Harmon was born into this world, beginning a life marked by love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family. On July 23, 2026, she left her earthly home to be welcomed into the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ.

She leaves behind her devoted husband of forty years, Brent Harmon, who lovingly remembers her as his rock, his best friend, his foundation, the love of his life, and his lovely wife. Together, they shared four decades of unwavering love and devotion, building a beautiful life centered on faith and family.

Janet also leaves behind her loving children: Meri Harmon (Joe), Hilary Harmon (Sean), and Aimee Hudson (Sam). She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Aubrey Noblin, Bentley Noblin, MJ Maxie, Sarah Dixon (Jacob), and Chris Johnson (Madison), each of whom brought immeasurable joy to her life; and her brother, Dale Mason (Linda).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bessie Mason and Hilary R. Mason; her beloved son, Chris Johnson; her precious granddaughter, Sierra Maxie; and her parents-in-law, Francis Harmon and Meredith J. Harmon.

Janet dedicated many years of her life to serving her community through her work. She began her career at Keysville Spinning Mill in the 1970s, where she worked until the mill closed. She then continued at West Point Stevens Mill in Drakes Branch for many years before its closure. Prior to retiring, she worked at Briery Country Club in Keysville. While she was known for her strong work ethic, it was the friendships she built along the way that she treasured most. Those friendships remained close to her heart throughout her life.

Janet was truly one of a kind. She never met a stranger and had an open-door policy that made everyone feel welcome. One of her greatest gifts was making people feel like they belonged. Whether family, friend, or someone she had just met, Janet had a remarkable way of making everyone feel loved, accepted, and at home.

She had a delightfully sarcastic sense of humor that kept everyone laughing, and if she teased you, it usually meant you’d earned a special place in her heart. She had a way of making even ordinary moments unforgettable with her quick wit and playful personality.

She also had a special love for gingerbread and collected gnomes with childlike delight. Those little joys became part of who she was and are just a few of the many things her family and friends will forever remember with a smile.

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing she is now whole in the presence of her Lord, reunited with those who have gone before her and forever in the peace of His presence.

We will be having a celebration of life on August 2, 2026 at 2 p.m. We ask everyone to bring a dish of their choice as we will be celebrating the way she would have wanted us to, good food and good company.
