John Albert Love, III

John Albert Love, III passed away at his home in Green Bay, Virginia on September 9, 2026. He was the son of John Albert Love, II and Jean Price Love. He was born in Petersburg, Virginia on December 8, 1963. John was preceded in death by his parents John A. and Jean Love.

John is survived by his sister, Deborah Love Painter (Melvin); and his nieces, Shannon Henshaw and Lauren Painter.

John graduated from Prince Edward Academy in June 1982. He worked with his dad at the service station in Green Bay while taking Criminal Justice classes at Southside Virginia Community College. He was employed by the the Prince Edward County Sheriff’s Office under Sheriff Gene Southall from May 1, 1983 until August 31, 1992. He worked at a rural mail carrier from September 1992 until December 2013.

John enjoyed photography and took some amazing photographs of wildlife (especially hummingbirds) and many photographs of his beloved cats. He was very interested in UFO sightings and was involved with the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON). He also enjoyed fishing, golfing and playing his guitars.

His quick wit and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held at Liberty Christian Church in Green Bay on Sunday, October 18, 2026 at 6:00 p.m.

Donations in his memory may be made to Liberty Christian Church, your local SPCA or any charity of your choice. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA is in charge of arrangements.
