Joyce Jones Samson

Joyce Jones Samson of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, died on Sunday, July 19, 2026. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Stephen Jones and Frances Owen Jones.

Joy, known for her warm and generous nature, was a cherished wife, sister, daughter, and friend, as well as a dedicated Christian. Her passions included Persian cats, reading, and a steadfast commitment to helping others.

After graduating from Hermitage High School in Richmond, VA, and moving to Raleigh, NC, she graduated from Meredith College and earned Master degrees from Southeastern Theological Seminary and North Carolina State University.

She is survived by her husband, Don Samson; her sister, Nancy Jones; her step-son, Devon Samson; her aunt, Annie Lee Carlton; and six cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Monday, July 27, 2026 at the Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA, with interment following at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Richmond, VA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA is in charge of arrangements.
