Lois E. Bailey, 94, of Keysville, peacefully went to meet her Lord and Savior on June 9, 2025. She was born on January 29, 1931, in Meherrin, VA, to the late Ruben H. and Grace V. Elsaesser. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of fifty-three years, Lewis M. Bailey; and her oldest son, Lewis Dale Bailey.
Lois was a woman of deep faith, unwavering kindness, and a gentle spirit. She found great joy in the beauty of flowers, the serenity of fishing, and the rewards of gardening. A devoted member of her church, where she was known as the mother of the church. She lived her faith through thoughtful acts of compassion, including regularly sending cards to shut-ins to offer comfort and a spiritual message. In quieter moments, she enjoyed word search puzzles, a simple pleasure that reflected her peaceful and thoughtful nature.
She is survived by two sons, Clyde Bailey (Sue) of Amelia and Dan Bailey (Tammy) of Keysville; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Bailey of Keysville; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She will also be dearly missed by her loving church family.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at Cool Springs Christian Church, 3088 Ontario Rd., Keysville, VA 23947. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Those who wish to honor Lois’s memory may make memorial contributions to the Cool Springs Christian Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Shannon Parker, 2852 Ontario Road, Keysville, VA 23947, or to a charity of your choice. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA is in charge of arrangements.
