Maria Erika Newcomb

Maria Erika Newcomb, age 86, of Red Oak, VA passed away on Friday, March 6, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born in Bamberg, Germany on July 7, 1939, she was one of twelve children born to the late Wilhelm Winkler and Elisabeth Reck Winkler. Maria was preceded in death by her husband, Nathan Woodson Newcomb; and her daughter, Eleonore Scherbel.

Maria is survived by her son, Larry Woodson Newcomb and his wife, Gina; three grandchildren, Cody Newcomb and his wife, Heather, Amber Newcomb, and Hannah Newcomb.

Maria loved spending time with her family and dinner outings with her granddaughter Amber, as well as shopping, playing Bingo, and eating mushroom cheese steak subs.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, March 9, 2026, in Saxe Cemetery, Saxe, VA. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 8, 2026, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., at the Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA.
