Matthew Justin Mann, a beloved husband, son, brother, uncle, friend, and faithful servant of the Lord, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on August 20, 2026, at 12:54 a.m., surrounded by his loving family and close friends.

Matthew was preceded in death by his father, William Richard Mann, and numerous grandparents, aunts, and uncles.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Alexis Mann; his mother, Vanessa Guthrie Mann; his brothers, William Richard “Ricky” Mann Jr.; Johnathan Mann and his wife, Ashley; Joshua Howell and his wife, Erinn; his niece and nephews, Mason Mann, Lucas Cooper, Connor Cooper, Kaiden Driggers, Madelyn Buckbee, Logan Buckbee, Bryson Howell, and Ryder Howell; along with numerous friends who were more like family.

Matthew was born on January 12, 1985. From the very beginning, there was something uniquely special about him. He was truly one of a kind. To know Matthew was to love him. He never met a stranger and had a remarkable gift for making everyone he encountered feel welcomed, valued, and immediately like family. His kindness, generosity, humor, and genuine love for others left an impression that will not soon be forgotten.

Matthew’s faith was not simply a part of his life—it was the foundation of it. He loved the Lord deeply and was unashamed of his faith. He was called to serve as the pastor of Spout Spring Baptist Church, a calling he embraced with his whole heart. He loved his church family and considered it a privilege to preach God’s Word, encourage others, pray with those who were hurting, and point people toward Christ. His greatest desire was that others would know the same Savior he loved so dearly.

Matthew lived his faith through the way he loved people. He was generous with his time, quick to help, and willing to give of himself whenever someone was in need. He had a heart for people and a way of making even those he had just met feel as though they belonged. Many who began as friends became family, and countless lives were touched simply because Matthew chose to love people well.

Above all else, Matthew loved his family. He cherished his wife, Alexis, and the life they shared together. He was a devoted husband, a loyal friend, and someone who would do anything for the people he loved. His family extended far beyond those connected to him by blood; Matthew had a gift for turning friendships into lifelong bonds and making people feel as though they had known him forever.

Matthew also had a special place in his heart for his beloved dogs and cats. He found joy in the things that made him uniquely himself, including his deep passion for Civil War history. He could talk for hours about battles, people, places, and obscure historical details, and anyone willing to listen was likely to leave knowing far more about the Civil War than they intended. His interests, his humor, his stories, and the little things that made Matthew Matthew will be deeply missed.

While his absence leaves an emptiness that cannot be filled, those who loved Matthew can rejoice in the promise he spent his life proclaiming. His earthly work is finished. His faith has become sight. He is no longer suffering, and he is now completely restored in the presence of his Lord and Savior.

This is not a goodbye without hope. It is a celebration of a life faithfully lived and a soul safely home. Matthew loved the Lord, served Him faithfully, loved his family deeply, and left this world having made it a little better simply by being in it. His memory will live on in the hearts of the many people he loved and the countless lives he touched.
