Nancy Coleman Nelson

Nancy Coleman Nelson, age 102, of Charlotte Court House, VA passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at her home surrounded by her family. She was one of nine children, born on March 28, 1924, to the late Leslie and Essie McDowell Coleman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hazel Ashley Nelson; daughter-in-law, Diane M. Nelson; son-in-law, Harold Catron; two sisters, Marjorie Foster and Doris Irwin; six brothers, Hunter Coleman, Leslie Coleman, Ray Coleman, Ralph Coleman, Billy Coleman, and Max Coleman

Nancy is survived by two daughters, Ellen N. Catron, Marilyn N. Johnson and her husband, Glenn; two sons, Dennis R. Nelson and Marvin “Mike” Nelson; five grandchildren, Tiffany Dempsey and her husband, Ben, Walter Catron and his wife, Roxanne, Fred Catron, Bridget Johnson, and Derrick Johnson and his wife, Rebecca; five great-grandchildren, Marissa Dempsey, Ella Catron, Aubrey Catron, Dustin Johnson and Ryleigh Johnson.

Nancy was a life-long member of Beulah Methodist Church. She was very artistic; she loved art and enjoyed painting. Nancy was also faithful and devoted to caring for her family and her community, which she loved very much.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, April 6, 2026, in Beulah Methodist Church Cemetery, Keysville, VA. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA is in charge of arrangements.
