Robert "Bobby" Edward Dixon Sr.

April 19, 1951 — July 9, 2025

Cullen, Virginia

Robert Edward Dixon, Sr., lovingly known as Bobby peacefully left for his Heavenly home on July 9, 2025, surrounded by his family.

Bobby was born April 19, 1951, as the fourth child of Harry and Virginia "Jinx" Dixon. During his childhood, you would find him with his brothers, Johnny and Jerry causing little boy mischief around Cullen. This often came in the form of playing ‘cowboys and Indians’ with their cousins, who they would tie to a tree and runoff, playing in the creek, or playing tricks on their sisters, Pat and Judy.

Bobby loved his hometown of Cullen and served in many capacities with the Cullen Volunteer Fire Department for over 50 years.

As an adult, Bobby met and married his true love, Cynthia Wilkerson Dixon, in 1976. In 1982, they welcomed their only child, Robert, to their family. Robert was his daddy’s shadow throughout his life and where you would find one, you would find the other. Robert met and married his wife, Kelly in 2007 and became Bobby’s “favorite daughter-in-law.”

Later in his life, Bobby became the very proud grandpa of Bo, Cody, and Jase. Bobby absolutely adored his three grandboys and never told them no, doing anything they asked of him. At any given time, you would find him with his grandboys often coaching them on life lessons, discussing hunting or fishing, telling them stories of his childhood, or true to his nature, getting into mischief.

To his family and friends, Bobby was always there to lend a hand, give advice, and crack a joke all while enjoying a cold Old Milwaukee.

Bobby enjoyed and was quite knowledgeable in all things’ history related and loved to share his wealth of ‘useless but interesting’ knowledge on the subject. He was an avid outdoorsman who could be found with either a fishing pole or rifle in his hand depending on the time of year. There is no doubt that Bobby has found the perfect fishing hole in Heaven with a rod in one hand and a cold Old Milwaukee in the other watching the deer just across the way.

Bobby is survived by his wife, Cynthia Wilkerson Dixon of forty-nine years; their cherished son, Robert, his 'favorite' daughter-in-law, Kelly; three grandboys, Bo, Cody, and Jase; sister, Patricia D. Gladwell (Paul); brothers, John A. Dixon (Anne), Jerry A. Dixon (Cheryl); sisters-in-law, Patricia Barton and Jeanne Roark (Andy); brother-in-law, Roland Wilkerson (Stacy); numerous nephews; nieces; and great-nephews and nieces. Bobby was preceded in death by his father and mother, Harry and Virginia “Jinx” Dixon; his sister, Judy Dixon; niece, Amy Chatham; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lewis Edward and Frances Wilkerson; and brother-in-law, Lewis Wilkerson, Jr.

Graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at Cullen Baptist Cemetery, Cullen, VA. In celebration of Bobby’s life, the family will be receiving visitors at Bobby’s home on Thursday, July 10th from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m., and Friday after 12 p.m.
