Ronald Gene Hall "RG"

Ronald Gene Hall “RG”, 92, of Drakes Branch, VA passed away at Centra Southside Community Hospital surrounded by his family on August 29, 2026. He was born on June 10, 1934 and was the son of the late Melvin and Mary Hall of Matewan, West Virginia. RG was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-five years, Barbara Wallace Hall. He was a dedicated member of Friendship Baptist Church.

After graduating from Matewan High School, he served his country for six years in the United States Marine Corps, and then he worked until his retirement for Norfolk & Western Railroad.

RG was known for his great sense of humor, his love and support for family, and his kindness and compassion toward everyone he met. RG loved all sports and he was a dedicated Pittsburg Steelers Fan.

RG is survived by five daughters: Regine Kline (Jay) of Suffolk, Tanger Simons of South Carolina, Terri Kinder (Donnie) of Drakes Branch, Melanie Minniti (Tony) of Drakes Branch, Scarlett Morris (Phillip) of Lynchburg;  eight grandchildren: Phillip Morris (Stephanie), Jason Morris (Ming), Heather Helvestine (Paul), Matthew Kline (Keisha), Adam Kinder, Chantay Kinder, Ryan Herman and Karma Simons; and six great-grandchildren: Savannah Morris, Michael Morris, Daniel Morris, Anna Morris, Alex Morris, and Mabel Jay Kline.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery, Drakes Branch, VA. The Reverend Dr. Jerry P. Jordan will be officiating. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA is in charge of arrangements.
