Stephen Charles Capon

Stephen Charles Capon, 73, departed this life on September 17, 2026, under the care and comfort of his beloved Keysville friends and community. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jane Capon, who passed away in 2018. Born and raised in Port Jefferson, Long Island, NY,

Stephen is survived by his brother and sisters, Michael, Anne, Patricia, Mary, and Virginia; his eight nieces and nephews; and ten grandnieces and nephews. Also left behind is his best buddy, John Duty, whose family, and their friends, became his own.

We are forever grateful for his annual family visits to the North Fork of Long Island. Stephen was a gentle giant, who brought back to us the peace and love he found in his “Keysville family.” He was a talented musician, a great cook, a master craftsperson, and a valued employee at Southside Virginia Community College for over 20 years. Throughout his life, Stephen sowed love, kindness, and strength. His soul will carry that with him for eternity.

Services will be held at Cool Spring Christian Church this Tuesday, September 22, at 5:00 pm with a reception to follow. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA is in charge of arrangements.
