Terri Garnett Covington, 62, of Drakes Branch, Virginia passed away on May 25th, 2026. She was born on November 23rd, 1963, to late Walton “Sarge” Hensley and Vivian Garnett.

Terri was preceded in death by her father, Walton “Sarge” Hensley; her mother, Vivian Garnett; her grandmother, Mamie Garnett; her son, Dusty Covington; and grandson, Colton “Spud” Covington.

Terri was married to the love of her life, Jesse Ronald Covington of Drakes Branch, for more than forty-three years. Their marriage brought her life’s most cherished blessings: her children, Amanda Covington of Victoria, Shawn Covington (Katherine) of Falls Church, Matthew Covington (Blake) of South Boston, Christian Covington of Keysville, Ronald Covington (Rachel) of Chase City; and bonus daughter, Anna Murray of Wylliesburg. She also leaves behind a sister; Barbara Shepard Martin of Keysville; eight grandchildren, along with a multitude of family and friends.

A message from her children:

To know our mom was to know unconditional love. She was the kind of woman who gave every piece of herself to the people she loved, never asking for anything in return. Her strength, her heart, and the way she loved her family so fiercely are things we will carry with us forever.

One of the greatest love stories we were blessed to witness was the forty-three years she spent married to the love of her life, Ronald. Through every hardship, every storm, and every season life brought their way, their love never wavered. In fact, it seemed to shine even brighter in the darkest moments. They showed us what commitment truly looks like — standing side by side through the worst of times, loving each other harder when life got heavy, and never letting go.

The world feels a little dimmer without her in it, but the love she gave, the lessons she taught, and the memories she created will continue to live on through all of us.

We will miss her more than words could ever express, but we are so thankful for every laugh, every hug, every lesson, and every moment we were lucky enough to share with her.

Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever our mom.

“If you see me gettin' smaller

don't worry and no hurry

I've got the right to disappear”
