Verna Mae Trent Tharpe

Verna Mae Trent Tharpe, age 91, of Wylliesburg, VA, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 3, 2014, at Halifax Regional Hospital with family by her side. She was the wife of the late Hunter M. Tharpe. Verna is survived by her son, Paul M. Tharpe of Wylliesburg, and his fiancée, Darlene Cisco of Saxe, two daughters, Nancy L. Tharpe of Wylliesburg, and Elizabeth Wilmoth of Drakes Branch; two grandsons, Weldon Robert Wilmoth Jr., and his wife, Kellie of Red Oak, and Christopher M. Wilmoth and his wife, Tracy of Dinwiddie; a granddaughter, Linda Wright of Covington, and three great-grandchildren, Nadia McCormick, Austin and Colton Brockwell; two sisters, Shirley Reese of Rustburg, and Gertrude Gillispie of Chase City; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul J. and Gracie J. Trent, a brother, Edward Lee Trent; and a son-in-law, Weldon R. Wilmoth.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2014, at 2 p.m., in the Hebron United Methodist Church with interment to follow in the church cemetery. Saxe, Va. The family will receive friends at the home. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA, is in charge of arrangements.
