Walter Mack Dunaway Jr.

Walter Mack Dunaway, Jr., age 79 of Drakes Branch, VA went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 5, 2025. He was born on February 14, 1946, to the late Walter Mack Dunaway, Sr. and Nannie Woodall Dunaway. Mack was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Ann Dunaway; three sisters, Connie Francis, Ruby Trammell, and Betty Harris; and three brothers, Daniel Dunaway, Morrell Dunaway, and Jessie Dunaway.

Mack is survived by five children, Paula D. Lacks, Tammy D. Quinn, Chris Dunaway (Wanda), Susan D. Williams (Quinton), and Katey D. Johnson (Kyle); thirteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; two sisters, Cora Langford and Inez Jones; and numerous other family members.

Mack was a lifelong member of Friendship Baptist Church. He enjoyed playing music with his brothers and was an excellent Banjo player. Mack was a very loving and kind person. He had a heart of gold and never met a stranger. Mack was loved by everyone he met.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, October 9, 2025 at Friendship Baptist Church, Drakes Branch, with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Mack to the SPCA, P O Box 66, Meherrin, VA 23954. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA is in charge of arrangements.
