Wirt “Harvey” Adams, age 86, of Drakes Branch, VA, passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2011, at the Chase City Nursing & Rehab Center. He is survived by his wife, Eva Foster Adams; a daughter, Ginny Ann Adams; a son, Donnie Adams and his wife, Joy; two grandsons, Nick and Tracy Stowe all of Drakes Branch, VA; one sister, Katerine “Kat” Irby of South Boston, VA; two brothers, Billy Adams and his wife, Charlotte of Drakes Branch, VA, Giggs Adams and his wife, Nancy of Randolph, VA; and two sisters-in-law, Elaine and Mary Adams of Drakes Branch, VA. Wirt worked at Stanley Land & Lumber Company for 56 years; where he retired. He was a U. S. Army World War II Veteran, and received the Bronze Star. He was an honorary Director in the Virginia State Fox Hunters Association. Some people called him a Living Legend and he was loved by everyone.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, September 10, 2011, at the Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA, with interment to follow in Lebanon Methodist Church Cemetery, Drakes Branch, VA. The family will receive friends at the Browning-Duffer Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Friday, September 9, 2011. In Lieu of flowers contributions may be made to The Fox Hunters Association. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA, is in charge of arrangements.
