Anna Ruegg Pollard, 89, of Southern Shores, NC passed away December 29, 2014 after a short illness. Anna was born June 21, 1925 in Meherrin, VA to Edwin and Minnie Ruegg. Throughout Anna’s life, she taught Sunday School, collected teapots, enjoyed sports and games, crocheting, painting, Nascar #3, and spending time with her children, ten grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. Anna dedicated her life raising and loving her family. She is survived by her sons, Claude G. Pollard, Jr. and wife, Linda, Mark E. Pollard and wife, Debbie; sister, Jean Ruegg Vizthum; brother, P. Donald Ruegg. Anna was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Claude G. Pollard, Sr.; son, J. David Pollard; sister, Marie Ruegg Hayes; brother, Edwin Bubby Ruegg, grandson, Sean Pollard, great-grandchild, Olivia Zonis; and her parents, Edwin and Minnie Ruegg.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 3, 2015 in the Meherrin United Methodist Church, Meherrin, VA with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, January 2, 2015. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Meherrin United Methodist Church.
