Aro Rickmond Overby, age 79, of Keysville, VA, died peacefully at her home on July 25, 2012. Aro was born in Halifax County, VA, on September 13, 1932. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Sarah Ann Rickmond; her brothers, Cecil Rickmond, and Dick Rickmond. She is survived by her children, Danny Overby and wife, Julie; Dennis Overby and wife, Rita; Sandy Flynn and husband, Danny; grandchildren, Chase, Dustin, and Casey Flynn; her sister, Edith Card; a sister-in-law, Francis Rickmond; and beloved nephews and niece.
Aro was a devoted lifelong member of Ash Camp Baptist Church. She found joy in the music and friends at Philbeck’s Music House, walking, crocheting, working in her yard, spending time with her family, and as we all know, enjoyed laughter. Although she endured many ups and downs, she continued to enjoy life to the fullest. She was known to special friends as “Sunshine”.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 28, 2012 in the Ash Camp Baptist Church, with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Browning-Duffer Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, July 27, 2012.
