Clarence Leroy Daniels, age 85, of Meherrin, VA passed away Thursday, January 30, 2014. He was born April 14, 1928 in East Hampton, New York. Clarence is preceded in death by his parents, Winthrop Daniels and Caroline Simons Daniels; his wife, Elizabeth Ann Magee Daniels; four brothers, George, Elmer, Albert, Edward; and a sister, May Odom. He is survived by a brother, Richard Daniels, a sister, Frances Guttarsman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Clarence was in the Merchant Marines from October 4, 1944 through 1946. He was a U.S Marine Veteran and participated in the Occupation of China from June 18, 1946 through March 9, 1947. Clarence worked in the Lobster Business, Civil Service, and ran his own business until retiring to Virginia. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Meherrin, and a member of the American Legion.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 4, 2014 in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Meherrin, VA, with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA is in charge of the arrangements
