Claude Jackson Jack Bigger of Keysville, VA passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at the age of 80. He was the son of the late Maury McPhail and Lena Colgate Bigger.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jean D. Bigger; his two children, Dwight McPhail Bigger of Richmond, VA and Deloris Bigger Smith of Charlotte Court House, VA; his three much loved grandchildren, granddaughters, Caitlin Conner Smith and Ashton Russell Smith both of Lynchburg, VA, and grandson, Dane-Gordon McPhail Smith of Charlotte Court House, VA; his sister, Bessie B. Mason of Keysville, VA; brother, Maury Lee Bigger of Clearwater, SC; and numerous family and friends.

He was predeceased by sisters, Virginia East, Mary Tharpe, Bertha Mann, Rachel Nichols, and Ruth Foster.

Jack was a member of the Keysville United Methodist Church, a charter member of the Charlotte County Rescue Squad, and served in the Korean War. He was a supervisor at Burlington Industries and West Point Pepperell. He retired from the Browning-Duffer Funeral Home on December 31, 2009, after 40 plus years of service.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, July 1, 2010, at 2 p.m., in Ash Camp Memorial Cemetery Keysville, VA. The family will receive friends on Wednesday tonight June 30, 2010, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Charlotte County Rescue Squad, Oak View Presbyterian Church, or to the American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 533, Charlotte C. H., VA 23923. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA is in charge of arrangements.
