Gwendolyn Mae Davis passed away at her home in Keysville, VA, on Monday, March 12, 2012, early in the morning. She was a native of Portsmouth, VA, from 1923 to 2003. The last years of her life were lived at her daughter’s home in Keysville, VA. She was the widow of the late Joseph Latham Davis, Jr. She was a strong willed single mother of four for forty-eight years and her children always came first. She never ceased to open her home to all who walked thru her front door. A hug greeted everyone. Her quick wit and strong determination was the heart of the Davis family. She is survived by one sister, Julia Ann Fleenor, of Chesapeake, VA; children, Dana AKA “the other one” Falcon Salanga, Brenda and her husband, Rick Koziana, Joseph Latham Davis III and his wife, Kathy, Michael G. Davis and his wife, Amy. She was the grandmother to Gary Hanes, Shona, Laurel and Joseph Davis IV, Justin and Taylor Davis, and Shelly Koziana. She was great-grandmother to Chelsy, Trever, and Conner Hanes, Liam and Aiden Davis.
There will be a graveside service at 1 p.m., Friday, March 16, 2012, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery on Airline Blvd., Chesapeake, VA. Family and friends are invited to the home of Mildred White at 4105 Margaret Ann Court in Chesapeake, VA. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to HOPE Hematology Oncology Patient Enterprises or to the Southside SPCA, P. O. Box 66, Meherrin, VA, 23954. She was dearly loved by Star, a faithful and loving cocker spaniel who laid with her nightly and always by her side. She was also grandmother to twenty-five four legged children. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA, is in charge of arrangements.
