James Roland Brown “Jimmie”, age 74, of Randolph, Virginia, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2013. Born in Ellis Creek in Halifax, VA, to the late Herman E. Brown and Beulah Crews Brown. He was a retired tobacco farmer and textile worker.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara Ramsey Brown; and three daughters, Jamie Brown of Randolph, Sheila and Andy Andrews of Moneta, Lori and Bill Tolbert of Mt. Solon; three grandchildren, Blair and Brandon Carter, Brad Andrews, and Ashley Tolbert. He is also survived by five brothers, H. E. and Janet Brown of Newport News, Riley Brown and Jean Callen of Charlotte Court House, Shirley and Bonnie Brown of Charlotte Court House, Joe and Snooks Brown of Winchester, Sammie and Wanda Brown of Charlotte Court House; and one sister, Jean and Martin Burton of Covington, GA; and a special nephew Johnny Tucker. He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Nancy B. Tucker and Mary Alice B. Englehart.
A memorial service will be held at Sheldon’s Restaurant in Keysville, VA, at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 27, 2013. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Charlotte County Rescue Squad or the Phenix Fire Department. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA, is in charge of arrangements.
