Albert Rea Oberwetter, age 74, of Charlotte Court House, VA passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2023. He was born in Hobbs, New Mexico. Albert was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Oscar and Hilda Curtis Oberwetter; and his sister, Ann Sharon Gordon.

Albert is survived by his loving wife, Marie, of Charlotte Court House, VA; brother, James C. Oberwetter and spouse Anita of Dallas; loved family includes brothers-in-law, Bill Reichstein, Carl Reichstein, Kurt Reichstein and their beloved spouses; one sister-in-law, Denise Ingram and beloved spouse;  nieces, Ellen Oberwetter, Rea Oberwetter, Brooke Coon, Dee Robinson, Nicole Hernadez, nephews, Jason Reichstein, Robert Reichstein, John Reichstein, Pat Reichstein and  Michael Bundy; four great nieces and five great nephews; favorite cousins, Carolyn Bond, Plano and Laura Cowan, Houston; special friends here were, Ruth Anne and Stacey Fletcher.

Albert was one of the last Army draftee, he served as a psych technician. He then went into salvage diving all over the world and did some scuba instruction. Marrying late at 43 years old, one of his favorite stories was how he told his mother. Al decided to take an LPN course to work in the Dallas jail with multiple stories from that career. His last job was a driver for a large retirement community in Virginia Beach. He took the residents everywhere all the while telling them stories about his life. He told special jokes on Sunday while taking them to church. This job let him see and learn the history of the south. When he retired, his main job was mowing and taking care of the few chickens. He always maintained he wasn’t a farmer.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Charlotte County Meals on Wheels. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA is in charge of arrangements.
