Anne Carrington Read Charlton Anderson passed August 30, 2018. She is survived by her five children, eight grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. The daughter of Dr. Thomas Jackson Charlton and Anne Read Charlton. She attended Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY. She was married to Maxwell Walthour Lippitt II with whom she had three children – Maxwell Walthour Lippitt III, Thomas Charlton Lippitt and Margaret Lippitt Masters. She was then marred to Stanley Anderson with whom she had two children – Anne Carrington Anderson and Eric Hultman Anderson. While residing in Charlotte County Virginia, she restored Greenfield Plantation and Ingleside Plantation. She lived at Sunnyside Farm in Saxe, VA for 35 years while raising her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a Master Gardener, an avid bridge player, and an enthusiastic tennis player. She was an active and dedicated member of the Patrick Henry Memorial and often volunteered at Red Hill. She cared deeply about environmental causes. Her handmade socks were the prize of the family. She was a strong, independent woman whose only fear was butterflies.  She will be greatly missed and often remembered.

    So grateful to have had Anne as a friend for many years. We enjoyed playing tennis & she was a very patient, encouraging teacher of the game. I thought she was a beautiful lady, inside and out. She enjoyed her family & Eric was in school with our children. Our condolences to each of you.

    ANNE WAS MY FIRST DATE WHEN WE WERE TEEN-AGERS IN SAVANNAH, GA.
    I HAD LOST TRACK OF HER AND AM VERY SORRY TO LEARN OF HER DEATH.
