John Henry Rasmussen

John Henry Rasmussen, age 80, of Keysville, VA, formerly of Hopewell, VA, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2023, with his beloved wife of almost forty-eight years by his side.  He was preceded in death by his father, John H. Rasmussen, Sr.; a sister, Joy R. Wright; and four children, John III, Suzanne, Ronald, and Donald.

John was a devoted husband and father. He loved his wife, children, and grandchildren like no other. John served in the United States Army from 1963 – 1969.  He worked several years in retail management before becoming a self-employed carpenter. John was a dedicated worker who took great pride in his work, with the goal of having happy customers.

He is survived by his mother, Mildred D. Galante; his wife, Carolyn S. Rasmussen; four daughters, Sonja L. Jackson (Scotty), Terri L. Rasmussen, Dawn R. Webber (Eric), Lisa G. Ball (Jeff); one son, Kenneth D. Garrett (Dawn); fourteen grandchildren, Jessica L. Taylor, Kayla D. Minnix (Shane), Zachary A. Webber (Katie), Jesse L. C. Garrett, Travis A. Webber (Chelsea), Brittany M. C. Garrett, Jeffrey S. Ball, Caleb A. Webber, Austin C. Whitaker, Lance E. Garrett, Jared T. Whitaker, Benjamin H. Jackson, Grace E. Jackson, and Raylynn F. Jackson; seven great-grandchildren, Sydney, Violet, Emily, Flynn, Shayla, Adam, and Rachel; two sisters, Barbara Cofield and Sue Hudson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, January 12, 2023, at the Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service.  A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, January 13, 2023, at Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens in Hopewell, VA. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P O Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.  The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA, is in charge of arrangements.
