Willard Thomas Bailey, 95, of Phenix, VA departed for his heavenly home on March 21, 2021, with family members by his side. Bill was born in Cullen, VA on February 6,1926 and was the son of the late Otis Thomas and Emma Jane Bailey. He was preceded in death by his sister Frances B. Berkley. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Marjorie Bailey of over 70 years, and was the proud father of two children. Walter T Bailey (Collette) of Phenix, VA and Christie Bailey (Michael) of Keysville, VA. Grandchildren, Lisa (Patrick), Heather (Dion), Cody (Cheyenne), Julie, Catherine and Carrington. He also had 5 great grandchildren that he enjoyed seeing.
Bill was a devoted employee of Kyanite Mining for over 40 years. He loved his Kyanite family and retired as Superintendent of Operations. After his retirement from Kyanite, he spent the next 20 years helping in his son Walt’s, Mobile Home Business. He was a charter member of the Phenix Volunteer Fire Department and a lifelong member of Phenix Presbyterian Church. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, 2021 in the Rough Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Public viewing and visitation will be from 10 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 23, 2021. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to Phenix Volunteer Fire Department. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA is in charge of the arrangements.
