Dorothy Compton English

Dorothy Compton English, age 80, of Phenix, VA, went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, September 18, 2011, at Lynchburg General Hospital.
Dorothy was born on January 3, 1931, in Charlotte County to Woody Scott Compton and Jennie Trent Compton. She was married to the late Bernard Harris English.
Dorothy worked for Burlington Mills / West Point Pepperell in Drakes Branch for forty-five years. She was a member of Phenix United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Johnny Wayne English and his wife, Belinda of Richmond, VA, Jimmy Carl English and his wife, Sandy of Midlothian, VA; one daughter, Debbie English Crews and her husband, David of Harrisburg VA; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, September 21, 2011, in the Phenix United Methodist Church in Phenix, VA, with interment to follow in Mt. Carmel Methodist Church Cemetery in Brookneal, VA. The family will receive friends at the Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA, on Tuesday, September 20, 2011, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA, is in charge of arrangements.
