Elizabeth Evans Hanmer, 98 of Keysville, departed this world on March 11, 2014. Betty was born in Wilmington, Delaware to Louisa Lacklen and William Calvin Evans. She is predeceased by her husband of 69 years Frederick I. Hanmer, Jr., two sisters Ruth and Mary and a brother George. She is survived by her three children Sharon Dunn Larry, Lisa Perdieu, and Rick Hanmer Alison, six grandchildren Christin Jackson, Matt Dunn, Brian Perdieu, Todd Perdieu, Kathryn Hanmer, Justin Hanmer, and ten great-grandchildren.
She graduated from Thompson Business College and worked as a secretary in the advertising department of Dupont where she met Fred. They married in 1941 and in 1946 moved to Keysville. Betty was a member of Keysville United Methodist Church for 68 years, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She enjoyed playing bridge, tennis, golf and taking care of her husband and children.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Keysville United Methodist Church with interment to follow in Ash Camp Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Browning-Duffer Funeral Home on Friday, March 14, 2014, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to Keysville United Methodist Church, P.
