Frances Bishop Powell, age 85, of Keysville, VA departed this life Wednesday, August 4, 2010, at her home.
Frances was born May 8, 1925, in Madison County, NC, to Sarah Rice Bishop and Wiley C. Bishop. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Frances is survived by her sons, Thomas L. Powell Jr., Layton Powell; and a daughter, Tammie Jackson all of Keysville; a daughter Annie McReynolds Mack of Richmond; grandchildren, Cindy Felton, Stacey Seales, Troy and Monty Powell, Shannon Hailey, Mesa Hinkle, Marlo and Megan Powell, Trey Jackson and Sarah Simpson along with their spouses and friends; fifteen great grandchildren; special caregiver, Alice Y. Johnson, whose care allowed her to be in her home; and Nancy Craig.
Frances was a long time devout member of Union Grove Baptist Church and spent much of her time with church activities and volunteer work.
A Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, August 8, 2010, in Union Grove Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 7, 2010, at the Browning-Duffer Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family wishes for donations to be made to the Charlotte County Rescue Squad or the Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA is in charge of arrangements.
