Henry Wilson Carwile Sr., age 88, a retired dairy farmer of Madisonville, VA, went home to the Lord on Thursday, October 7, 2010. He was born March 9, 1922 to James Henry and Grace Roberts Carwile.
Henry was a veteran of World War II having served with the 1081st Signal Corp in North Africa and Italy, and a charter member of Appomattox Pentecostal Holiness Church. Henry served faithfully as a deacon and church officer for over fifty years.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Virginia Whitlow Carwile; four children, Cynthia C. Jones Kurtis, Henry W. Carwile Jr. Augusta, Thomas Duane Carwile, James Edward Carwile; five grandchildren, Tracey C. Hottle, Kendall Carwile, Seth Carwile, Alan Jones Misty, Karen Jones; four great-grandchildren, Caden Hottle, Lynden Hottle, Liam Hottle, A. J. Jones; one sister, Verna C. Harris of Wakefield; and five nephews.
He was predeceased by an infant daughter and son; his parents; and three brothers, James Russell Carwile, Wilbur Thomas Carwile, and Cleveland Lewis Carwile.
A Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, October 10, 2010, in Spring Creek Baptist Church, Darlington Heights, VA, with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Browning-Duffer Funeral Home on Saturday, October 9, 2010, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA is in charge of arrangements.
