Mr. John Edward “Buff” Watts passed away from this life on Monday, October 25, 2010 at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was born March 31, 1920 in Halifax County to Ernest C. and Lily McCullock Watts. John was a U.S. Marine who served during World War II in the South Pacific. He was a member of Herman Presbyterian Church and a member of the Masonic Lodge#565 of the State of New York. John is survived by his wife Hazel H. Watts; two sons, Bobby Joyce Watts of Lakeland, Fl., Bryan Norma Tuck of Cullen, VA; two daughters, Rachel Bill Saunders of Scottsburg, VA, Helen Bobby Berry of Spout Springs, VA; six grandchildren, Robbie Berry, Kris Tuck, John Taylor Tuck, Jessica Saunders, Jacob Saunders, Jordan Saunders; two great-grandchildren, Ryan Berry and Carter Berry; one brother, E.C. Watts; two sisters, Pauline Green of Randolph, Bonnie Brown of Charlotte Court House, VA; and special friend, Tim Tucker. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Edna S. Watts; a sister, Lois Ann Sublett; and two brothers, Carroll Watts and Robert Watts.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 28, 2010 at the Bethel Baptist Church, with interment in the Midway Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Browning-Duffer Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 27, 2010.
